How To Make A Link Wheel Using Micro Blogs
One of the best tools for getting your site on the first page of the search engine results in Google, Bing and
MSN is a link wheel made using free micro blogs.
This is a great way for anyone, especially those on a budget, to really get some link building power for free.
All it takes is some knowledge, your effort and some time.
As a side note, there are no magic tricks to link building, no secret formulas that only an elite few know
about. There are certainly techniques that not so many people know about, but, really, it gets down to common sense
and hard work.
So, how do you create a link wheel? Duncan Carver's excellent
book, The Ultimate Link Building Dossier explains this
in great detail. Here is the basic idea, as I have implemented it. It really does work, very well.
Suppose your website is about heating with wood and you have 5 main keywords you wish to work with. You create a
spreadsheet with the micro blogs in the first column and the keywords listed across the top.
You then fill in the blank spaces with the keywords in order so that you are always linking from one blog to
another with a different keyword.

This might take a bit of pondering to wrap your head around, that is why Duncan devoted several pages to the
process.
What happens is that you link, for example: HubPages to Squidoo using keyword E, then Squidoo to WordPress using
keyword D and so on. Always use the keyword as an anchor text to get the most link juice out of your efforts.
There are many, many micro blogs out there, some better than others. This partial list is only to illustrate,
though these are all good ones to use, and they are free!
This is a rather time-consuming process, but it gets easier as you do it. Once you have an account with these
blogs, you get used to the format and interface.
Use a spreadsheet for the blogs and username and passwords so you can keep track of the info. You will never
remember all the names and numbers, so write it down and put it in a folder where you can quickly find it.
Make a spreadsheet for each of your websites and set a schedule that you can keep. You will be amazed at how
well this process works.
A word of warning though: it takes time for link building to really take effect. In fact, it might even take 3
months to reach full effect, but it is very much well worth the effort.
You can also outsource this, if your budget allows and you just don't want to spend your time doing this. Really
though, you should do it at least once to get a real grasp of the process.
